Agentforce vs Copilot Studio: 2026 pricing & MCP

Salesforce announced Agentforce September 12, 2024, hit GA October 25, 2024, shipped Agentforce 2.0 December 17, 2024, and has cycled through three pricing models ($2/conversation, $0.10/Flex Credit, $125+/user/month). Microsoft Copilot Studio went to MCP GA in May 2025. An Agentforce vs Copilot Studio side-by-side with citations and all three Salesforce pricing models on one page.

Verdict

If your system of record is Salesforce (CRM, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud) Agentforce is the shorter path. The reasoning engine is native to Data Cloud, the agent surface inherits your existing permissions model, and the pricing is outcome-aligned. If your employees live inside Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint) Copilot Studio is the shorter path. Multi-agent orchestration is native to the Power Platform, and governance flows through Purview and Entra. Neither platform is likely to displace the other in the organizations where the other is already the backbone.

What each platform actually is

Agentforce is Salesforce's agentic-AI platform, the successor to Einstein. Three dates, three releases. Announced September 12, 2024 [1]. GA on October 25, 2024 [2]. Agentforce 2.0 introduced on December 17, 2024 [3], with multi-agent orchestration and an extended reasoning layer. The architectural bet is that Data Cloud (Salesforce's customer data platform) is the ground truth the agent reasons over, with the Atlas Reasoning Engine handling planning and tool invocation on top.

Copilot Studio is Microsoft's low-code platform for building agents that live inside Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and third-party channels. Microsoft's own description: "an end-to-end conversational AI platform that empowers you to create agents using natural language or a graphical interface." The architectural bet is that the Microsoft Graph, the identity, permission, and content layer across M365, is the ground truth, with Azure OpenAI, GPT-5, and Anthropic available as routed models.

Pricing, with the caveats

Both vendors run deliberately complex pricing. Salesforce has shipped three Agentforce models since launch: $2 per conversation at October 2024 GA, Flex Credits at $0.10 per action from May 15, 2025, and per-user licences at $125 to $650 per user per month in late 2025. All three run at once [5]. Microsoft's Copilot Studio stack prices as $200 per 25,000-credit pack on top of the Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on. Direct list-to-list comparison is misleading unless the deployment matches the canonical pricing assumptions.

Published pricing as of April 2026

Item Agentforce Copilot Studio
Headline unit ~$2 per conversation (pay-per-use) $30 per user per month, bundled into Microsoft 365 Copilot
Alternative unit Agentforce 1 Editions: per-agent licensing (talk to Salesforce for pricing) Copilot Credits: $200 per pack (25,000 credits) per month, up to 20% savings at pre-purchase
Pay-as-you-go Included in conversation-based pricing Usage-based Azure billing; no upfront commitment
Free trial / dev Agentforce Developer Edition Copilot Studio trial; Copilot Studio Lite for light use

Pricing signal, plainly. Agentforce's $2-per-conversation model is unusual in enterprise software: it aligns vendor incentive with outcome volume. The shift to Flex Credits and per-user tiers in 2025 [5] suggests even Salesforce found the conversation model hard to scale on enterprise workflows. Copilot Studio's bundled-with-M365 pricing is the conventional enterprise model, and looks "free at the margin" to organizations already paying for the $30-per-user-per-month Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on [8].

Where each one wins

Six categories where one platform has the clearer advantage:

Directional advantages · evaluated on publicly documented capabilities

Situation Better starting point
Service / Sales agents grounded in CRM data Agentforce
Agents that live inside Teams, Outlook, SharePoint Copilot Studio
Outcome-aligned pricing preferred by procurement Agentforce ($/conversation)
Existing M365 E5 agreement to bundle against Copilot Studio
MCP-native architectural bet, broad connector reuse Copilot Studio (1,400+ connectors + MCP)
Marketing Cloud / Customer 360 orchestration depth Agentforce
Purview + Entra governance alignment already in place Copilot Studio
Einstein Trust Layer (masking + audit) already in use Agentforce

Things that could reshape the comparison

Three developments we are watching through 2026 that could move the scorecard:

  • MCP coverage parity. Copilot Studio reached MCP GA in May 2025 [6] alongside 1,400+ Power Platform connectors [7]; Agentforce MCP client entered pilot July 2025 and hosted MCP servers reached beta October 2025 [4]. Copilot Studio has the deeper production rollout for now; Agentforce is closing the gap.
  • Outcome pricing transparency. Salesforce's $2-per-conversation number is the reference point; Microsoft has not shipped a directly equivalent metric. If Microsoft publishes outcome pricing, the procurement conversation changes overnight.
  • Multi-agent interoperability. Both platforms have multi-agent orchestration, but neither meaningfully inter-operates with the other. Standards like MCP and A2A (agent-to-agent) could reduce the lock-in premium of either single-vendor choice.

FAQ

Q: How much does Salesforce Agentforce cost in 2026?

Three pricing models running in parallel [5]. The first one: $2 per conversation, since October 2024. The second: Flex Credits at \(0.10 per action, 100,000-credit minimum (\)10,000 floor), starting May 2025. The third: per-user licences at $125 to $650 per user per month, added late 2025. All three still active. Enterprise deals get quoted on whichever fits the workflow shape.

Q: How much does Microsoft Copilot Studio cost?

Two shapes. Microsoft 365 Copilot at $30 per user per month, which bundles Copilot Studio access for agent-building. Standalone Copilot Studio uses \(200 per 25,000-credit packs per month (\)0.01 per credit PAYG) [8]. One or the other. Rarely both at the same seat.

Q: When did Agentforce launch and when did MCP support ship?

Four dates matter. Agentforce announced September 12, 2024 [1]. GA October 25, 2024 [2]. Agentforce 2.0 with multi-agent orchestration on December 17, 2024 [3]. MCP client support entered pilot July 2025, hosted servers reached beta October 2025 [4]. Copilot Studio MCP beat that timeline by six months: GA May 2025 [6].

Q: Should I pick Agentforce or Copilot Studio if my CRM is Salesforce?

Agentforce. Three reasons. The Atlas Reasoning Engine is native to Data Cloud. The agent surface inherits Salesforce permissions. The Einstein Trust Layer covers masking and audit. Copilot Studio can reach Salesforce via connectors [7], but the integration tax and a duplicate governance surface add up over the renewal cycle.

Q: Should I pick Agentforce or Copilot Studio if my stack is M365?

Copilot Studio. Three things tip it. Native integration with Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Graph. Governance via Purview and Entra. E5-renewal bundling. When M365 is already the daily substrate, that stack beats Agentforce on friction every time.

Q: Which platform has broader MCP and connector support?

Copilot Studio, in April 2026. MCP reached GA in Copilot Studio in May 2025 [6]. 1,400+ Power Platform connectors alongside [7]. Agentforce is catching up, not ahead: MCP pilot July 2025, hosted-server beta October 2025 [4]. The connector catalog there depends on MuleSoft (40 pre-built connectors announced with Agentforce 2.0).
